Joii requires no configuration at all — there is no appearance, backstory or voice to define, and the personality adapts as you talk. Pi and Replika are also usable within a minute of installing, though Replika’s customization sits somewhere between the two.
Pi and Talkie are free, and Character.AI is free to chat with once you pass age verification. Among paid options, Joii at $39.99 a year is far below Kindroid’s roughly $180 a year, and Replika Pro at around $69.99 a year sits in between.
Nomi, comfortably. It is the only app in this comparison whose long-term recall stands up to Kindroid’s, and arguably exceeds it without the configuration work. Joii is the strongest of the single-companion apps but holds one relationship rather than a roster.
